Distance: 60 km (1 hr. 30 min.). After breakfast depart to Manyara. Lunch and afternoon game drive in this superb scenic park set around Lake Manyara, most famous for the tree climbing lions. Lake Manyara is a birdwatcher's paradise. Marvel at the variety of species, spoonbill, teal, pelican, kingfisher, hornbill and cormorant. In the tall trees, forest monkeys leap from branch to branch on the slope of the Great Rift escarpment, elephants stand in the shade of the baobab; and in the acacia woodland, lions lie draped along the branches of the umbrella trees. Day 4. Lake Manyara National Park - Arusha

Many of the animals congregate around the only source of permanent water in the park, the Tarangire River. This is the best place in Tanzania to see really big herds of elephants of up to 300 at a time on safari. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Sopa Lodge or Tarangire Safari Lodge, B,L,D.

Day 5: Tarangire National Park, Tanzania

Safaris in Ngorongoro

12 Day Kenya / Tanzania Combined Safari

Day 1 - Nairobi
Arrive in the morning at Jomo Kenyatta Airport, where you will be received by your tour driver cum guide, and a tour rep to brief you on your safari, over a round of refreshing welcome drinks, after which you begin your safari by taking a scenic drive to the world famous Masai Mara. Stop enroute at the edge of the Rift Valley escarpment to see the stunning views and to visit a small church that was built by Italian prisoners of war during the 1940's, not usually expected in Africa! You will also see the Maasai people on the way, who live unaffected by modern civilization. You may stop along the way at small trading centers "dukas" in Swahili, and enjoy speaking to the locals, some of whom might know some English. Check in at your safari lodge and enjoy a sumptuous buffet lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will be taken for a game drive in the park. Overnight at Keekorok Lodge.

Day 2 - Masai Mara
Today you will explore the great Masai Mara. After an early breakfast, set off for your game drive. You may stop and walk at special sites such as the Mara river where you can see hippo and crocodiles. Return to the lodge where you can enjoy a refreshing swim before your buffet lunch. Later in the afternoon, leave for another game drive to explore another part of the reserve. Expert game tracking skills of your tour guide cum driver. Enjoy a buffet dinner at the lodge. Evening entertainment sometimes includes traditional dances and culture talks. Overnight at Keekorok Lodge. [Option of a packed picnic lunch, so that you can be out in the reserve all day, returning to the lodge in the evening- no extra cost.

Day 3 - Masai Mara - Lake Naivasha
After early morning game drive and breakfast, depart for Lake Naivasha. Arrive in time for lunch. Rest of the afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge.

Day 4 - Lake Nakuru
Depart after breakfast for the scenic Lake Nakuru National Park, a bird and rhino sanctuary, and home to a variety of wildlife. This lake is famous for its pink flamingoes and is a World Heritage Site. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge. A late afternoon gamedrive will allow you to see the many wild animals in the park. Day 5 - Mountain Lodge
Enjoy your buffet breakfast before leaving for Mountain Lodge, situated at the base of Mount Kenya. This is a Tree lodge for which the Mount Kenya region is famous, and is uniquely Kenyan concept. The lodge has specially constructed viewing bunkers from where you can spot game any time of the day. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon can be spent viewing the game from a spacious verandah overlooking the waterhole or by going for a forest walk for sighting of game and bird life ( optional). Night game viewing here is a joy-if you are lucky, you could see an elephant coming to feed near the lodge, only metres from you. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Lodge.

Day 6 - Nairobi
After an early buffet breakfast, you will leave for a scenic drive to Nairobi with a game drive enroute. Arrive Nairobi by lunchtime. Complimentary lunch at Carnivore Restaurant, one of Africa's most famous restaurants. Afternoon can be spent shopping or a visit to Karen Blixen Museum ["Out of Africa fame"] can also be arranged ( optional ). Excellent buffet dinner and Overnight at Jacaranda Hotel.

Day 7 - Arusha
After an early buffet breakfast, depart for shuttle to Arusha at 8am. Arrive by 2pm. Meet and assist and transfer to Lake Manyara National Park. Arrive at the lodge by lunchtime. Lunch and afternoon game drive follows in this very scenic park with fabulous views over the valley to the lake below. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge.

Day 8 - Serengeti
After breakfast, depart for Serengeti Game Reserve. Arrive at the lodge by lunchtime. Lunch and afternoon gamedrive follows. Visit the Ol duvai gorge. This park is essentially similar to Masai Mara, as they both form one eco system. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge.

Day 9 - Serengeti
Full day at Serengeti National Park with morning and afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge.

Day 10 - Ngorongoro
After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Crater, home to hundreds and thousands of plain animals. Arrive at the lodge by lunchtime. Afternoon gamedrive in the spectacularly formed crater in a 4 wheel drive vehicle follows after lunch. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.

Day 11 - Ngorongoro
Full day at Ngorongoro Conservation Area with picnic lunch.Arrive at the lodge by 6pm. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.

Day 12 - Arusha - Nairobi
After breakfast, depart for Arusha. On arrival, take 2pm shuttle to Nairobi . Arrive Nairobi by 7pm. Transfer to the airport for flight home.
